With surrogacy being a complex process, it involves many different moral, ethical, and legal issues that are challenging the acceptance of this assisted reproductive treatment by society. However, surrogacy should only be viewed by society as a great option to infertility based on sound moral, ethical, and legal arguments. In effect, this view will help eliminate adverse criticism against the ones resorting to this reproductive alternative to create a family and also against the child later in life. Legislators should pass laws to help and protect the rights of surrogate mothers, intended parents and children. In order to fully understand the ethical, moral, and legal arguments surrounding surrogacy it is important to understand what surrogacy is. According to the Online Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition of surrogacy is â€Å"the practice of serving as a surrogate mother† (Surrogacy) and to surrogate means â€Å"to put in the place of another† (Surrogate). The ASRM’s ethics committee is emphasizing in their argument that commoditization of humans doesn’t happen as payments made to the gestational carriers are a mere compensation for all the hardship they might encounter during the process. Beside the opponents’ beliefs, infertile women, infertile couples, and liberalists who represent the majority of advocates for surrogate motherhood assert that surrogacy is a way to help childless couples have their biologically related children even though they would have to pay high costs for this fertility treatment. When writing in French, jamais  is one word that can be easily confused with another. So, first things first: always watch your spelling with this one! Jaimais,  when spelled with the added i, means I loved, or I was loving/liking/enjoying and comes from  the verb aimer. Whereas the word being discussed here, jamais, means never. Jamais is confusing because it takes the place of the pas in a negation. But on top of this, it can also translate as ever or never in English, which are two quite different notions. When does the French adverb jamais mean ever, and when does it mean never? The short answer is that it depends on the context and construction of the sentence.   Ne ... It may also be defined as Elliot (1999) says the movement of people from communities concerned chiefly or solely with ag riculture to other communities generally larger whose activities are primarily centered in government, trade, manufacture or allied interests(Elliot. J.A. 1999). The negative influences of this phenomenon have exceeded the positive effects. Therefore, most countries, in particular developed ones, have been attempting to reduce the population inside cities and towns. This step is responsible for maintaining sustainability for those countries particularly in the field of development. Sustainable development is known as the ability of an activity or development to continue in the long term without undermining that part of the environment which sustains it (SNH, 1993). In addition, it may be defined as the searching for high quality of living without affecting the environment (English Nature, 1993). However, there is a contradiction between urbanisation and sustainable development, because urbanisation has tremendous problematic effects on environment whereas sustainable development seeks to create healthy cities and towns. Urbanisation in all countries has many negative effects therefore there are a considerable number of policies have been suggested to deter these problems. This project will present two problems of urbanisation, lack of space and increasing private cars owners then will highlight some causes of it and finally will suggest three solutions in order to solve these problems of urbanisation. 1. LACK OF SPACE 1.1 CAUSES The prime reason behind peoples movement from rural areas to urban ones is that they seek higher living standards because they believe cities are more desirable than where they live. However, moving to cities without planning will cause many problems for both settlers and governments. Some troubles that may face squatters as a result of sudden and unplanned moving to cities are lack of basic living standards and pollution. 1.2 EFFECTS Because most migrants who desire to improve their income by moving to industrialised areas are poor and they cannot afford renting flats or buying houses, they will accept living anywhere even in ill developed places. As a result of this, settlers always reside in the edge of cities and it is known as shanty town. These settlements are always built in illegal ways therefore they lack of the basic elements of services such as water, sewerage system and health care (Bilham-Boult et al, 1999). In advanced countries or even in developing countries, governments usually attempt to build cities in modern ways by establishing great infrastructures. These infrastructures are built to present good facilities for people such as road networks, transportation and sewerage systems. Also one of these facilities is to connect houses with main sources of water by constructing pipes of water. However, as discussed earlier, most settlements are built randomly, thus they have access to these important facilities. Hence, squatters are required to pay for water carts and this will cost them a considerable amount of money and sometimes paying for water will be unaffordable for them because most settlers are poor. In Accra, for example, only 35 per cent of houses have been connected to water sources and 24 per cent use basic pipes whereas 28 per cent of citizens buy water from water vending carts (Bilham-Boult et al, 1999). Lack of pipes of water means lack of sewerage system, according to Bilham (1999) the pollution in shanty towns in particular the pollution in water has increased rapidly because some cities have no sewerage system therefore sewage is still drained directly to rivers and to main sources of water. Moreover, settlers build pits dug to gather the sewage into it, further, these pits dug may construct among the cities which responsible for bringing a huge numbers of bacteria and diseases for people who reside near it. 1.3 SOLUTIONS After discussing the main problems which may face squatters in shanty towns, the following paragraphs will point out some problems that may encounter governments due to urbanisation. Unplanned moving from country sides to cities causes many problems for governments because that requires construct new infrastructures or even builds new territories for new comers and this will be very costly. Furthermore, the demands to create jobs for squatters will take place because most squatters sale their farms and lands to help them shift from rural areas to urban ones. Another problem is that the necessity of establishing social services such as health care, education and transportation will rise as well. However, many solutions have been suggested to solve the problems of urbanisation. One of these solutions is that governments should encourage their farmers who live in rural areas to stay there by making all facilities which exist in cities available in countryside such as schools, health care centers and transportation. In addition, by making this step that will be very helpful to solve the problem of unemployment because that will increase the opportunities of migrants who desire to move to urban areas to find a job in their areas instead in urban areas. 2. TRANSPORTATION Another problem that may be increased due to urbanisation is the increasing of private cars owners. Therefore, the following paragraphs will examine the causes and effects of rising vehicle use. 2.1 CAUSES The most considerable cause of depending on private automobiles is the price because most cars companies have reduced the prices of the cars by making it very affordable. Hence, most people prefer buying cars rather than using public transportation because they believe using public transportation wastes time and money. Wasting time is due to the commuters are must walk from their homes and work to the nearest station and vice versa and they also spend a considerable amount of money because they must buy tickets for all travels even for small journeys. This was not only the reason of increasing the number of private automobiles, but the reasonable price of fuels also encourages people to purchase cars. Moreover, the price of fuels compare with the tickets prices of journeys seems to be much more affordable for people in particular for large families. However, the most significant reason beyond the reliance on cars is the shortage of public transportation. In many cities the rail networks and high ways do not cover all areas which surround cities. Therefore, most people are required to purchase cars particularly people who work away from the urban areas or people who live in rural areas and work in cities. In addition, some cities were built since 19th or early 20th century, thus they lack planning and good organisation which means they lack infrastructures. Because of this, it is very difficult for governments to rebuild and reorganise cities because that will cost the governments a huge amount of money. 2.2 EFFECTS As a result of increasing the number of private cars, many effects will emerge such as congestion, energy consumption, air pollution, noise, health and a significant number of accidents. However, the most important effect is air pollution because it is a consequence of congestion and energy consumption. Air pollution not only effects the environment of cities but it will also harm the health of people because it carries many emissions such as carbon dioxide. 2.3 SOLUTIONS Many solutions have been suggested to solve the problems of urbanisation. One of these solutions is to connect all areas which include the city itself and all areas surrounded it by one system. It may cost governments an enormous amount of money, but by taking this step public transportation will be more desirable than private vehicle. It will save time and money for commuters who move from place to place frequently. Moreover, issuing uniform tickets of buses and railway with affordable and reasonable prices will be a most grateful solution in particular for large families. This step will ease transferring between public transportation by establishing short distances of travelling. Finally, if governments want to reduce the number of cars they should raise taxes, parking fees and the price of fuels. This stage will encourage people to use public transportation. This encouragement also needs to create informative programmes to raise the awareness of people particularly in the harm of using private cars such as the pollution and the rapid increasing of accident rates. CONCLUSION The former paragraphs have stated the negative impacts of urbanisation in particular the problems of lack of space and the increase of private cars owners. A number of policies have been discussed by some governments which may be mainly helpful to solve the problematic negative influences of urbanisation. As discussed earlier, urbanisation has a great deal of harmful impacts, they could be exceeded its benefits. Many of these epic tales feature fearsome and godly battles, while others highlight the soft side of human emotions. Despite seemingly unrealistic characters such as talking hawks and ten-headed monsters, and unlikely conflicts that feature bloody battles, many of these grand epics display many traditional values that Americans value in modern society. When construing three particular celebrated Indian epics (â€Å"the Mahabharata,† â€Å"the Bhagavad-Gita,† and â€Å"the Ramayana†), readers would easily glean the values and belief system that Ancient Indian society held in high esteem many thousands of years ago. Moreover, by comparing and contrasting respective ideals and principles, similarities between Ancient Indians and Americans would come to surface. The Mahabharata teaches the value of integrity through the story of a deal between a king and a hawk. At a nearby river performing a ritual sacrifice, a king comes across an injured dove trying to escape the clutches of a hawk. He makes a vow to protect the dove and says, â€Å"This bird has come to me for asylum. It is my duty to protect it,† (From the Mahabharata). He arrives home perhaps thinking that he shall now take the place as the king of Denmark, only to discover that while he was away Claudius, his uncle and Gertrude, his mother have been wed. Therefore Claudius, not Hamlet, takes the place as King of Denmark. When Hamlet discovers this he becomes almost deranged, especially when Old-Hamlet appears to him in a form of a ghost, revealing that Claudius killed Old-Hamlet. This knowledge forces him to feel betrayed by all around him, such as the politicians that once supported his father and now show that same respect to Claudius. He feels that he can not trust his mother or Ophelia, his girlfriend. When travelling actors arrive Hamlet decides to put on a play to draw Claudius out, by seeing if he would react to a play about a brother killing a king to steal the crown. Claudius rushes out when the play is acted, showing that he is responsible for the killing of old-Hamlet. Hamlet follows quickly behind him and is about to strike Claudius down when he hears him committing his acts to god. Hamlet decides not to kill him, as when old-Hamlet was killed he did not have to commit his sins to god, so he was stuck in purgatory, a place where what you have done is weighted up, in good and bad to decide what will happen to them. Instead of killing Claudius he then proceeds to his mother to tell her of what he has found, hearing a sound he turns and thrusts a sword into a curtain, thinking that it was Claudius, only to discover that it was Polonius, Ophelias father, whom then dies. Claudius decides to send Hamlet to England to be killed, only to have Hamlet foil his plan. Hamlet returns to find while he has gone Ophelia has gone mad and has drowned her self, grief stricken he leaps into her grave. Laertes, Ophelias brother and Poloniuss son then challenges Hamlet to a duel which he Hamlet accepts. Laertes is then approached by Claudius who offers to fix the fight by poisoning his foils tip, Laertes grief stricken accepts this offer to revenge the two deaths in his family. The Ending of Hamlet sees the deaths of Laertes, Claudius, Gertrude and most importantly Hamlet. We also witness a change in the character of Hamlet, as he is now thinking less and acting more. He even mocks Laertes: Ill be your foil Laertes, in my ignorance your skill shall like astar i th darkest night stick fiery off indeed. In this scene we as an audience feel the dramatic tension, as we know all the traps lay in front of Hamlet, the poisoned foil of Laertes, and the cold goblet of wine poured by Claudius. Yet you find your self thinking that perhaps Hamlet knows that something is going on when he asks: These foils have all a length This is to command the attention of the audience to the poison tip of Laertes foil, which within the duel is held of to prolong the dramatic tension. This is the same way Hamlets action is held of with his obsession with procrastinating about the action which is to be taken to revenge his fathers death. This scene is made more dramatic by the frequent use of trumpets and kettle drums. The use of musical instruments in this way makes the environment appear more exciting. Hamlet tries to explain his actions of his recent self by asking give me your pardon sir, for I have done you wrong, but goes on to say it was not Hamlet, was his madness and also admits that his madness is poor Hamlets enemy. This excuse is not accepted by Laertes for in his terms of honour I stand aloof the only reason he is going along with the duel is to keep his name ungored, and also to revenge his fathers and sisters deaths. The use of language is of a high-class because the word ungored reminds us of the poisoned tip of the foil and what Laertes planes to do with it. Before the duel can start, Claudius plans to drink to Hamlets better breath, this is ironic as Claudius has already planed to poison Hamlets goblet of wine with a pearl. Claudius refers to this as a union, which could refer to the way in which old-Hamlet and Hamlet are to be killed, as old-Hamlet was also killed with poison that Claudius gave him. Claudius also performs this task to show the people around him that he is supporting Hamlet, so he is not thought to be guilty of Hamlets death. After the king drinks to Hamlet there is another out burst of sound as the trumpets are blown, this is also to add to the already excited atmosphere to start the duel. This leaves the audience knowing more than the victim. The next part of the text is split a series of short sentences, this is to create the speed of the duel and how the points are awarded by touches. The style of writing is used to build the dramatic tension between the two competitors. As you see Hamlet gaining the hits over Laertes, and with one hit left you start to think that Hamlet has foiled Claudiuss plan, and even avoids the poisoned goblet on two accounts. Mean while Claudius shows in this scene that he is now completely taking the place of his brother, as he speaks aside to Gertrude our son shall win. This small sentence shows what a twisted man he really is, as the words our son show as Hamlet is his brothers son and Claudius is only his uncle. Furthermore this shows that he is comfortable that his plan to poison Hamlet will be successful. Claudius is therefore shocked when Gertrude takes up Hamlets goblet to drink to him, Claudius then shouts to Gertrude, Gertrude do not drink. This line is probably by best line as it creates an atmosphere within the hall, as Claudius is pulled between saving his wife and not letting the hall of people know that he has poisoned Hamlets goblet of Hamlets wine, but in the end he is out for himself, as he does not take the goblet away from Gertrude. At this same point I think Gertrude believes all the things that Hamlet has told her earlier in the play and feels so bad that she drinks the poison, in a way this makes up for the betrayal that she committed towards her family and also the memory of Old-Hamlet. Again Hamlet dare not drink from his goblet as he wants to finish the duel first. This saves him from the poisoned goblet, therefore he only has one problem before him and thats Laertes revenge. Before the third round is started Laertes strikes out violently and wounds Hamlet, therefore poisoning him, yet to do so is almost against his conscience. In the incense of the fight, as it is no longer an honourable duel, the foils are swapped and Laertes tastes his own venom, he is justly killed by his own treachery. The Queen mean while is laid out on the floor with Claudius attending to her; she then calls out the truth about the drink! I am poisoned. At this point Hamlet knows that some treachery is around and he calls for all the doors to be locked and to seek it out. This again changes the mood of the hall and creates a room full of panic, as people are screaming and talking in worried voices. Laertes is the first to commit that he has wronged, Hamlet, thou art slain and that the treacherous instrument is in thy hand. This makes Hamlet angry and starts to make Claudius drink the poisoned goblet while saying all the sins Claudius has committed, incestuous, murderous, damned Dane. Again union is used to link Claudiuss death to Gertrudes, as he is united with her in death. This could also refer to the way both the brothers were killed with poison. The anger of Hamlet changes the atmosphere into a mute. Laertes then exchanges forgiveness with Hamlet, as Laertes dies. Hamlet is also feeling the poison within him as he admits to Horatio I am dead. He next turns to the rest of the witnesses in the hall; this is a much more kingly way to die thinking of his country and giving blessing to Fortinbras as the next king. When Fortinbras arrives there is once again a burst of sound, but this is not to stir excitement, it is more to command respect. When he enters he is met with the dead bodies of the royal family. When Hamlet is taken away he is carried like a soldier to the stage, as Fortinbras believes that Hamlet would have been a mighty king. I think this ending to Hamlet is a fitting ending to the play as it contains a lot of dramatic tension and a lot of action. This ending also contains a lot of honour with every thing that was wrong being righted.
